sanatorium of See also:southern See also:India, in the See also:Madura See also:district of See also:Madras, situated in the Palni hills, about 7000 ft. above See also:sea-level; pop. (1901), 1912, but the number in the hot See also:season would be much larger. It is difficult of See also:access, being 44 M. from a railway station, and the last x 1 m. are impracticable for wheeled vehicles. It contains a See also:government See also:observatory, the appliances of which are specially adapted for the study of terrestrial See also:magnetism, seismology and See also:solar physics.
