LUCRETILIS See also:MONS , a See also:mountain of the See also:Sabine territory, mentioned by See also:Horace (Od. i. 17, 1) as visible from his Sabine See also:farm, and probably identical with the " Mons See also:Lucretius " mentioned in the See also:Liber Pontificalis (ed. See also:Duchesne, i. 183), which speaks of " possessio in territorio Sahinensi quae cognominatur ad duas casas sub See also:monte Lucretio" in the See also:time of See also:Constantine. The name " ad duas casas " is supposed to survive in the See also:chapel of the Madonna della Casa near Rocca Giovane, and the Mons Lucretilis is generally (and rightly) identified with Monte Gennaro, a See also:limestone See also:peak 4160 ft. high, which forms a prominent feature in the view N.E. of See also:Rome. Excavations on the supposed site of Horace's farm were begun by See also:Professor Pasqui in See also:September 1909. (T.
