QUARTO , a shortened See also:

form of See also:Lat. in quarto, " in a See also:fourth," i.e. of a See also:sheet of See also:paper, applied to a See also:size of paper, and to a size of a printed See also:volume. Paper is in quarto when a whole single sheet is folded twice so as to form four leaves; a See also:book is technically termed of " quarto " size when made up of sheets. folded twice.
