WOOD (See also:Malay sapang) , a soluble red dyewood from a See also:tree belonging to the leguminous genus Caesalpinia, a native of tropical See also:Asia and the See also:Indian See also:Archipelago. The wood is somewhat lighter in See also:colour than See also:Brazil wood and its other See also:allies, but the same tinctorial principle, brazilin, appears to be See also:common to all.
