TORTOLI , a See also:town and episcopal see of See also:Sardinia, on the See also:east See also:coast, 140 M. N.N.E. of Cagliari by See also:rail (55 M. See also:direct). Pop. (1901), 2105. It lies 6o ft. above See also:sea-level to the See also:south-See also:west of a large See also:lagoon, which renders it unhealthy. The See also:harbour is 22 M. to the east, and serves for the export of the See also:wine and agricultural produce of the Ogliastra. A little to the south of Tortoll was the station of See also:Sulci on the See also:Roman coast road, known to us only from the itineraries.
