VAQUERO , a See also:

Spanish word meaning a cowherd or herdsman, and so particularly used in See also:Mexico and Spanish See also:America for the whole class of men employed on the large See also:cattle-ranches or vaquerias. The word, like the corresponding Fr. vacher, cow-See also:herd, comes from the Med. See also:Lat. vaccarius (vacca, cow).
