APPENDICULATA , a zoological name introduced by E. See also:

Ray Lankester (See also:preface to the See also:English edition of C. See also:Gegenbaur's See also:Comparative See also:Anatomy), and employed by the same writer in the 9th edition of this See also:encyclopaedia (See also:article "See also:Zoology") to denote the eighth phylum, or See also:major See also:division, of coelomate animals. The animals thus associated, the See also:Rotifera, See also:Chaetopoda and Arthropods, are composed of a larger or smaller number of hollow rings, each See also:ring possessing typically a pair of hollow lateral appendages, moved by See also:intrinsic muscles and penetrated by See also:blood-spaces.
