ARTEGA , a tribe of See also:

African " See also:Arabs," said to be descendants of a sheik of that name who came from See also:Hadramut in pre-Islamic days, settling near Tokar. The name is said to be " patrician," and the Artega may be regarded as the most See also:ancient stock in the See also:Suakin See also:district. They are now an inferior mixed See also:race. They were all followers of the See also:mandi and See also:khalifa in the See also:Sudan See also:wars (1883-1898). See Anglo-EgyptianSudan,edited byCountGleichen (See also:London, 1905).
