BAROTAC NUEVO , a See also:

town of the See also:province of Iloilo, Panay, Philippine Islands, near the Jalaur See also:river, above its mouth on the S.E. See also:coast, and about 15 M. N.E. of Iloilo, the See also:capital. Pop. (1903) 9904; in 1903 after the See also:census had been taken the neighbouring town of Dumangas (pop. 12,428) was annexed to Barotac Nuevo. The town lies in a fertile See also:plain and deals in See also:rice, trepang and See also:pina. Here, in what was formerly Dumangas, are a See also:fine See also:church and See also:convent, built of See also:iron, pressed See also:brick and See also:marble. Dumangas was destroyed by See also:fire in See also:June 1900, during a fight with insurgents, but its rebuilding was begun in May 1901.
