BOGODUKHOV , a See also:

town of See also:Russia, in the See also:government of See also:Kharkov, 45 M. by See also:rail N.W. of the See also:city of that name, in 49° 58' N. See also:lat. and 36° 9' E. See also:long., was formerly fortified. Pop. (r86o) 10,522; (1897) 11,928. There seems to have been a See also:settlement on this site as See also:early as 1591. In 1709, at the See also:time of the Russo-See also:Swedish See also:War, Bogodukhov was taken by See also:Menshikov and the See also:emperor Alexius. It contains a See also:cathedral, built in 1993. Boots, caps and furred gowns are manufactured, and gardening and tanning are carried on. The See also:trade is principally in See also:grain, See also:cattle and See also:fish.
