Lat. name for See also:Wales. After the end of the western See also:Roman See also:empire the Cymric Celts held for a while both Wales and the See also:land See also:round the Solway (now Cumber-land and adjacent regions), and the former came to be called Cambria, the latter Cumbria, though the two names were some-times interchanged by See also:early See also:medieval writers.
