CANACHUS , a sculptor of See also:

He was especially noted as the author of two See also:great statues of See also:Apollo, one in See also:bronze made for the See also:temple at See also:Miletus, and one in See also:cedar See also:wood made for See also:Thebes. The coins of Miletus furnish us with copies of the former and show the See also:god to have held a See also:stag in one See also:hand and a See also:bow in the other. The rigidity of these See also:works naturally impressed later critics.
