CASSANO ALL' IONIO, a See also:

town of See also:Calabria, See also:Italy, in the See also:province of See also:Cosenza; its railway station (6 m. S. of the town) is 37 M. N. by E. from the town of Cosenza, while it is 6 m. W. of Sibari, on the See also:line between Metaponto and Reggio. Pop. 6842. It is very finely situated, 820 ft. above See also:sea-level: the See also:rock above it is crowned by a See also:medieval See also:castle commanding beautiful views: a See also:tower is still pointed out as that from which the See also:stone was thrown which killed See also:Milo, but this rests on an erroneous See also:identification of Cassano with the See also:ancient See also:Compsa (q.v.). There are warm sulphurous springs here which are used for See also:baths.
