DIURNAL See also:

MOTION , the relative motion of the See also:earth and the heavens, which results from the rotation of our globe on its See also:axis in a direction from See also:west toward See also:east. The actual motion consists in this rotation. But the See also:term is commonly applied to the resultant apparent revolution of the heavens from east to west, the axis of which passes through the See also:celestial poles, and is coincident in direction with the axis of the earth.
