DUMAGUETE , the See also:capital See also:town of the See also:province of Negros See also:Oriental, See also:island of Negros, Philippine Islands, on Tan6n Strait. Pop. (1903) 14,894. The town of Sibulan (pop. in 1903, 8413) was annexed to Dumaguete in 1903, after the See also:census had been taken. Dumaguete lies in the midst of a fertile agricultural See also:district. The inhabitants are chiefly natives, but the shops are kept by See also:Chinese merchants. The public buildings, which include an interesting See also:watch-See also:tower and See also:belfry, are large, substantial and well cared for.
