HERACLEONAS , See also:east-See also:Roman See also:emperor (Feb.–See also:Sept. 641), was the son of See also:Heraclius (q.v.) and Martina. At the end of Heraclius' reign he obtained through his See also:mother's See also:influence the See also:title of See also:Augustus (638), and after his See also:father's See also:death was proclaimed See also:joint emperor with his See also:half-See also:brother See also:Constantine III. The premature death of Constantine, in May 641, See also:left Heracleonas See also:sole ruler. But a suspicion that he and Martina had murdered Constantine led soon after to a revolt, and to the See also:mutilation and banishment of the supposed offenders.
