HJORRING , an See also:

ancient See also:town of See also:Denmark, See also:capital of the amt (See also:county) of its name, in the See also:northern insular See also:part of the See also:peninsula of See also:Jutland. Pop. (1901) 7901. It lies 7 M. inland from the See also:shore of Jammer See also:Bay, a stretch of See also:coast notoriously dangerous to See also:shipping. On the coast is Lonstrup, a favoured seaside resort. In this neighbourhood as well as to the See also:south-See also:east of Hjorring, slight elevations are seen, deserving the name of hills in this See also:low-lying See also:district. Hjorring is on the northern railway of Jutland, which here turns eastward to the See also:Cattegat part of Frederikshavn (23 m.), a See also:harbour of See also:refuge.
