HOLSTEIN , formerly a duchy of See also:Germany. Until about Trio the See also:county of Holstein formed See also:part of the duchy of See also:Saxony, and it was made a duchy in 1472. From 146o to 1864 it was ruled by members of the See also:house of See also:Oldenburg, some of whom were also See also:kings of See also:Denmark.
