HORTEN , a seaport of See also:

Norway, in Jarlsberg-See also:Laurvik amt (See also:county), beautifully situated on the See also:west See also:bank of the See also:Christiania See also:Fjord, opposite See also:Moss, 38 m. by See also:water and 66 by See also:rail S. of Christiania. Pop. (190o) 846o. It is practically See also:united with Karl-Johansvaern, which is defended by strong fortifications, is the headquarters of the See also:Norwegian See also:fleet, and possesses an See also:arsenal and See also:shipbuilding yards. There are also an See also:observatory and a nautical museum.
