KOROCHA , a See also:

town of central See also:Russia, in the See also:government of See also:Kursk, 75 M. S.S.E. of the See also:city of Kursk, on the Korocha See also:river. Pop. (1897), 14,405. Its inhabitants live by gardening, exporting large quantities of dried cherries, by making candles and See also:leather, and by See also:trade; the merchants See also:purchase See also:cattle, See also:grain and See also:salt in the See also:south and send them to See also:Moscow. Founded in 1638, Korocha was formerly a small fort intended to check the Tatar invasions.
