LOCMARIAQUER , a See also:

village of western See also:France, on the W. See also:shore of the Gulf of See also:Morbihan, in the See also:department of Morbihan, 8z m. S. of See also:Auray by road. Pop. (1906) 756. Locmariaquer has a small See also:port, and See also:oyster culture is carried on See also:close to it. See also:Roman remains are to be seen, but the See also:place owes its celebrity to the megalithic monuments in the vicinity, some of which are among the largest extant. The menhir of Men-er-H'roeck (See also:Fairy See also:stone), which was broken into four pieces by See also:lightning in the 18th See also:century, previously measured about 67 ft. in height, and from 9 to 13 ft. in thickness.
