MACQUARIE , a See also:

British See also:island in the See also:South Pacific Ocean, in 540 49' S. and 159° 49' E. It is about 20 M. See also:long, and covered with a grassy vegetation, with some trees or shrubs in the sheltered places which afford See also:food to a See also:parrot of the genus Cyanorhamphus, allied to those of the See also:Auckland Islands. Although it has no settled See also:population, Macquarie is constantly visited by sailors in quest of the See also:seals which abound in its See also:waters.
