MOXOS , Mojos, MoHOS, a tribe of See also:

South See also:American See also:Indians living around the See also:head-See also:waters of the See also:Madeira See also:river, See also:northern See also:Bolivia, particularly on both See also:banks of the See also:Mamore. They submitted to Inca domination, but in 1564 gallantly repulsed the Spaniards. A See also:century later, however, the See also:Jesuits were welcomed, and the Moxos became devout Catholics. They number some 30,000.
