NICANOR , See also:Greek grammarian, son of Hermeias of See also:Alexandria (or See also:Hierapolis), lived during the reign of See also:Hadrian. He chiefly devoted himself to the study of See also:punctuation and the difference of meaning caused by it. Hence he was nicknamed " the Punctuator " (3 vreyµartas). He is known to have written on the punctuation of See also:Homer and See also:Callimachus. He was possibly the author of a See also:work Hepl Me-rovoµaviwv (On the See also:Change of Names of Places), of which some fragments are preserved in C. W.
