NORWICH , a See also:

village and the See also:county-seat of Chenango county, New See also:York, U.S.A., on the Chenango See also:river, 42 M. N.E. of See also:Binghamton. Pop. (1910 See also:census), 7422. It is served by the See also:Delaware, Lackawanna & Western and the New York, See also:Ontario & Western See also:railways. The village has three parks, two See also:libraries—the See also:Guernsey Memorial Library and the D. L. See also:Follett Memorial See also:Law Library—and the Chenango Valley See also:Home for Aged See also:Women. Norwich is in a dairying and farming region, where hops especially are grown; and there are bluestone quarries in the vicinity. There are a variety of manufactures, and the New York, Ontario & .Western has repair shops and See also:division headquarters here. The first See also:settlement was made in 1792, and the village was incorporated in 1857.
