SALYANY , a See also:

town of See also:Russian See also:Transcaucasia, in the See also:government of See also:Baku, 8o m. S.S.W. from Baku, on the See also:river Kura, and on an See also:island of the same name. In 1897 its See also:population was l o,168, chiefly See also:Tatars. It is a fishing centre, where thousands of workers gather from all parts of See also:Russia during the See also:season. Salyany was annexed to Russia in the 18th See also:century, but was retaken by the Persians, and only became Russian finally in 1813.
