SCRIM , a See also:

light open texture, usually made of See also:cotton or See also:flax. It is used in See also:bookbinding, upholstery and other See also:industries. It is also used as a backing to strengthen See also:paper, as in maps and packing paper. Sometimes jute scrims are made for the latter purpose, and the whole made impervious to moisture by the addition of some waterproof See also:solution. Certain varieties of jute scrims or nets are used for supporting the branches of See also:fruit trees, and for preventing birds from damaging the fruit.
