The town is now an important junction on the See also:Sind-See also:Peshin railway, where the Harnai See also:line and the See also:Quetta See also:loop line meet, near the entrance of the Bolan pass, 88 m. S.E. of Quetta. Pop. (1901) 4551. The district, which was constituted in 1903, has an See also:area of 4152 sq. m.; pop. (1901) 74,555. The greater See also:part became See also:British territory by the treaty of See also:Gandamak in 1879; the See also:rest is ad-ministered under a perpetual See also:lease from the See also:khan of See also:Kalat. See also:Political See also:control is also exercised over the See also:Marri-See also:Bugti See also:country, with an additional area of 7129 sq. m.: pop. (1901) 38,919.
