STANIMAKA , a See also:

town of See also:Bulgaria in Eastern RumeIia; on the Derin Dere, an affluent of the Maritza, 12 M. S.S.E. of See also:Philippopolis. Pop. (1906), 14,120. It is an important seat of the See also:wine See also:trade and also possesses a distillery. Sericulture is carried on under See also:British auspices. To the See also:south of the town are the ruins of the See also:medieval citadel. Under its See also:Greek name Stenimachos, the town is frequently mentioned in connexion with the Bulgarian See also:wars from the 11th See also:century onwards.
