The word is a corruption of the more correct " terrine," an earthenware See also:vessel (Med. See also:Lat. terrineus, made of See also:earth, terra). The corruption is due to See also:miss spelling in See also:early See also:cookery-books, and an absurd See also:story that the name arose from See also:Marshal See also:Turenne once drinking his soup from his See also:helmet was invented to See also:account for it.
