TURKI , strictly speaking an Arabic or See also:

Persian See also:adjective formed from Turk, used by See also:European writers in two rather different senses. (1) It is applied to tribes or See also:languages which are See also:Turkish as opposed to See also:Aryan, Semitic, &c. (2) It is used as the See also:special designation of the tribes and languages of Kashgaria and Eastern See also:Turkestan.
