A TRIBUTE TO A GREAT MAN by David Icke Joseph Duggan, from Vancouver, Canada, was the first person to approach me to speak in North America back in 1996 when few others wanted to know and 'attendances' at my talks could be counted sometimes on one hand. Even back then when I arrived on the ferry to meet him for the first time I wondered how he possibly managed to function with the severe shaking that he had to contend with. But function he did. Magnificently. There were 250 people at his first event in Vancouver and it was that which gave me the encouragement I desperately needed at that time to keep going. The following year it was 350, then 750, followed by thousands. All made possible by the staggering spirit of Joseph Duggan, who lived on a paltry income in dire health, yet produced these wonderful events with first class organisation as good as you would see anywhere. Even on top of his ever worsening health that needed him to spend longer and longer at rest, he also had to cope with the constant efforts of people like Richard Warman, Bernie Farber and co to destroy his events by causing venues to cancel at the last minute. One idiot even called him a "Nazi" when this was a man who cared so deeply about human freedom that he pushed himself through unbelievable odds to give a platform to me to expose the gathering global fascist state. But Joseph Duggan's sense of decency and compassion for his fellow human beings, and his unbreakable determination to overcome all his challenges, always shone through the arrogant vindictiveness of those who tried to thwart him. The world has lost a great, great man and I have lost one of my dearest friends. I cry at your passing, mate, but I am so pleased your frustration and pain are over. We'll keep going down here, Joseph, and I'll see you again my friend when my time is over. You make sure you have one of those Granville Island beers in the fridge, OK? You'll always be an inspiration that will keep me going no matter what. You were such a wonderful, wonderful man. My love and thoughts are with his lady, Pam. |
