AIBONITO , an inland See also:

town of the electoral See also:district of See also:Guayama, See also:Porto Rico,, on the See also:highway between See also:San Juan and See also:Ponce, 25 M. E.N.E. of. the latter. It is the See also:capital of a municipal district of the same name. Pop..(1899) of the town, 2085; of the district, 8596. The town is about 2200 ft. above See also:sea level, and owing to its cool See also:climate and freedom from See also:malaria it has been chosen as an acclimatizing station and See also:sanatorium for foreigners. It is surrounded by See also:coffee plantations, and See also:tobacco of excellent quality is. raised in the vicinity: The town was considerably damaged by the See also:great See also:hurricane of the 8th of See also:August 1899.
