His friendship with See also:Antonio See also:Perez caused him to be arrested in 1590 and imprisoned for nearly thirteen years. His Tdcito espanol ilustrado See also:con aforismos (See also:Madrid, 1614) is the only See also:work which bears his name, but he is probably the author of the Discurso del gobierno ascribed to Perez. Through the See also:influence of See also:Lerma (to whom the Tdcito is dedicated) and of See also:Olivares, he subsequently attained high See also:official position.
