BELKNAP, See also:JEREMY (1744-1798) , See also:American author and clergyman, was See also:born at See also:Boston on the 4th of See also:June 1744, and was educated at Harvard See also:College, where he graduated in 1762. In 1767 he became See also:minister of a Congregational See also:church at See also:Dover, New See also:Hampshire, remaining there until 1787, when he removed to Federal See also:Street church, Boston. He is recognized as the founder of the See also:Massachusetts See also:Historical Society, and in 1792 became an overseer of Harvard. He died at Boston on the loth of June 1798.
