BRYAXIS , one of the four See also:great sculptors who worked on the See also:mausoleum at See also:Halicarnassus, about 350 B.C. His See also:work on that See also:monument cannot be separated from that of his companions, but a basis has been discovered at See also:Athens bearing his See also:signature, and adorned with figures of horsemen in See also:relief. He is said to have made a great statue of See also:Serapis for See also:Sinope, but as to this there are See also:grave historic difficulties. He also made a great statue of See also:Apollo, set up at See also:Daphne near See also:Antioch (see E. A. See also:Gardner, Handbook of See also:Greek See also:Sculpture, ii. 374).
