CALUMPIT , a See also:

town of the See also:province of Bulacan, Luzon, Philippine Islands, at the junction of the Quingua See also:river with the Rio Grande de la Pampanga, about 25 m. N.W. of See also:Manila. Pop. (1903) 13,897. It is served by the Manila & See also:Dagupan railway, and the See also:bridge across the Rio Grande is one of the longest in the Philippines. The surrounding See also:country is a fertile See also:plain, producing large quantities of See also:rice, as well as See also:sugar, See also:Indian See also:corn and a variety of fruits. Calumpit has a large rice-See also:mill and one of the largest markets in the Philippines. The bridge, See also:convent and See also:church of the town were fired and completely destroyed by insurgent troops in. 1899. The See also:language is Tagalog.
