CEANOTHUS , in See also:

botany, a genus of the natural See also:order Rhamnaceae, containing about See also:forty See also:species of shrubs or small trees, natives of See also:North See also:America. They are very attractive from their dense panicles of See also:white or See also:blue See also:flowers, and several species are See also:CEARA 591 known as See also:garden See also:plants. The leaves of one of these, C. americanus, New See also:Jersey See also:tea, or red-See also:root, are used instead of the true tea; the root, which contains a red colouring See also:matter, has See also:long been employed by the See also:Indians as a febrifuge.
