chakrata has a place called lakhamandal known for its largest shivalingam & tha statues of bhima & arjuna. the temple is so beautiful that it captivates the soul & bring joy to the innerself. a fair is organised every year in the month of april which is very enjoyable.

My father, and officer with the Royal Norfolk Regiment, was stationed in Chakrata in the summer of 1937. My mother gave birth to my brother while at Chakrata, but died shorly afterwards. She is buried in one of the cemeteries at Chakrata. I understand there is still an army base at Chakrata. Does anyone know if it is possible to visit Chakrata nowadays, and if so how one gets there from the UK!! Pat

Chakrata is a place which cnat be defined in words, the beauty of nature is so awsome, that eye lids didnt flicker's for a single moment. But its true that foreigners cant visit this place due to security reasons, but there is a option, that Non - indians can take permission from active army commander office whcih is situated in kalsi.
