CHAMKANNI , a small See also:Pathan tribe on the See also:Kohat border of the See also:North-See also:West See also:Province of See also:India. They inhabit the western See also:part of the Kurmana Valley in the See also:Orakzai portion of See also:Tirah, but are supposed to be a distinct See also:race. They took part in the frontier risings of 1897, and during the Tirah expedition of that See also:year a See also:brigade under See also:General Gaselee was sent to punish them.
