CHOPSTICKS , the " See also:pidgin-See also:English " name for the pair of small tapering sticks used by the See also:Chinese and See also:Japanese in eating. " Chop " is pidgin-English for " See also:quick," the Chinese word for the articles being kwai-tsze, meaning " the quick ones." " Chopsticks " are commonly made of See also:wood, See also:bone or See also:ivory, somewhat longer and slightly thinner than a See also:lead-See also:pencil. Held between the thumb and fingers of the right See also:hand, they are used as See also:tongs to take up portions of the See also:food, which is brought to table cut up into small and convenient pieces, or as means for sweeping the See also:rice and small particles of food into the mouth from the bowl.
