CONCARNEAU , a fishing See also:

port of western See also:France in the See also:department of See also:Finistere, 14 M. by road S.E. of See also:Quimper. Pop. (1906) 7887. The See also:town occupies a picturesque situation on an inlet opening into the See also:Bay of La Foret. The old portion stands on an See also:island, and is surrounded by ramparts, parts of which are believed to date from the 14th See also:century. It is an important centre of the sardine, See also:mackerel and See also:lobster See also:fisheries. Sardine-preserving, See also:boat-See also:building and the manufacture of sardine-boxes are carried on.
