DIRGE , a See also:

song or hymn of See also:mourning, particularly one sung at funerals or at a service in See also:commemoration of the dead. It is derived from the first word of the See also:antiphon " Dirige, Domine, See also:Deus meus, in conspectu tuo viam meam " (See also:Guide, 0 See also:Lord, my See also:God, my way in Thy sight), of the opening See also:psalm in the See also:office for the dead in the See also:Roman See also:Church. The antiphon is adapted from See also:verse 8 of Psalm v.
