DUNDERLANDSDAL , a valley of See also:

northern See also:Norway, in See also:Nord-See also:land amt (See also:county), draining See also:south-westward from the neighbouring glaciers to the Ranenfjord (See also:lat. 66° 2o' N.). There are deposits of See also:iron ore, the working of which was undertaken in 1902 by the Dunderland Iron Ore See also:Company, See also:water-See also:power being provided by the strong Dunderland See also:river. There are also See also:pyrites mines. At the mouth of the river is Mo, a considerable trading See also:village. The valley is remarkable for several stalactite caverns in the See also:limestone, some of the tributary streams flowing for considerable distances underground. From Mo a See also:fine road crosses the mountains to the See also:head-See also:lake of the See also:great Ume river, draining to the Baltic, and from the head of Dunderlandsdal a sequestered bridle-path runs to Saltdal on the Skjerstadfjord, with a See also:branch through the magnificent Junkersdal.
