In the valleys E. and S. are the headwaters of the famous Ausable See also:river. About 2 M. E. of the See also:village, at See also:North See also:Elba, is the See also:grave of the abolitionist, See also:John See also:Brown, with its huge See also:boulder See also:monument, and near it is another monument which bears the names of the 20 persons who bought the John Brown See also:farm and gave it to the See also:state. The railway to the village was completed in 1893. The village was incorporated in 1900.
