FENESTRATION (from O. Fr. fenestre, See also:modern fenelre, See also:Lat. fenestra, a window, connected with Gr. cbaivety, to show) , an architectural See also:term applied to the arrangement of windows on the front of a See also:building, more especially when, in the See also:absence of columns or pilasters separating them, they constitute its See also:chief architectural embellishment. The term " fenestral "is given to a See also:frame or " See also:chassis " on which oiled See also:paper or thin See also:cloth was strained to keep out See also:wind and See also:rain when the windows were not glazed.
