HORREUM , the Latin word for a See also:

magazine or storehouse for the storage of See also:grain and other produce of the See also:earth, and occasion-ally for that of agricultural implements. The storehouses of See also:Rome were of the most extensive See also:character, there being no fewer than 290 public horrea at the See also:time of See also:Constantine. They were used for the storage of See also:food and merchandize of all kinds, being See also:part of the See also:great See also:Roman See also:system of providing food for the See also:population, and they were supplied constantly with See also:corn and other provisions from See also:Africa, See also:Spain and elsewhere.
