ITRI , a See also:

town of See also:Campania, See also:Italy, in the See also:province of See also:Caserta, 6 m. by road N.W. of See also:Formia. Pop. (r9o1) 5797. The town is picturesquely situated 690 ft. above See also:sea-level, in the mountains which the Via See also:Appia traverses between See also:Fondi and Formia. Interesting remains of the substruction See also:wall supporting the See also:ancient road are preserved in Itri itself; and there are many remains of ancient buildings near it. The brigand Fra See also:Diavolo, the See also:hero of See also:Auber's See also:opera, was a native of Itri, and the See also:place was once noted for See also:brigandage.
