KUSTANAISK , a See also:

town of See also:Asiatic See also:Russia, in the See also:province of See also:Turgai, on the Tobol See also:river, 410 M. E.N.E. of See also:Orenburg, in a very fertile See also:part of the See also:steppes. Pop. (1897), 14,065. The first buildings were erected in 1871, and it has since grown with See also:American-like rapidity. The immigrants from Russia built a large See also:village, which became the centre of the See also:district See also:administration in 1884, and a town in 1893, under the name of Nicolaevsk, changed later into Kustanaisk. It is an educational centre, and a See also:cathedral has been built. There are tanneries, See also:tallow See also:works, See also:potteries, and a See also:fair for See also:cattle, while its See also:trade makes it a See also:rival to Orenburg and See also:Troitsk.
