town is situated on the Zawgyi See also:River and on the See also:Rangoon-See also:Mandalay railway See also:line, and is well laid out in See also:regular streets, covering an See also:area of about a square mile. It has a See also:population (1901) of 5420, mostly Burmese, with a See also:colony of See also:Indian traders. Above it are some See also:bare rocky hillocks, picturesquely studded with pagodas.
